Understanding Alcoholism and Drug addiction as a bio-socio-spiritual disease requires a holistic approach to Addiction Prevention. Education about the nature of the disease is the primary path to shifting painful stereotypes and biases that create shame for patients and their families rather than hope for healing.

Treatment must initially meet the medical and diagnostic criteria before concluding and creating a treatment plan for abstinence and ongoing recovery and stability. There is a need for all those working to assist patients suffering with addiction to be well updated and internationally certified in this field of Addiction recovery and Prevention so that the best care is delivered to the patient and the maximum results for recovery are optimized.
