Understanding Alcoholism and Drug addiction as a bio-socio-spiritual disease requires a holistic approach to Addiction Prevention. Education about the nature of the disease is the primary path to shifting painful stereotypes and biases that create shame for patients and their families rather than hope for healing.
Treatment must initially meet the medical and diagnostic criteria before concluding and creating a treatment plan for abstinence and ongoing recovery and stability.
There is a need for all those working to assist patients suffering with addiction to be well updated and internationally certified in this field of Addiction recovery and Prevention so that the best care is delivered to the patient and the maximum results for recovery are optimized.
THE IC&RC IADCC seeks to bring the highest standards of certification for those aspiring to be Addiction Professionals.

It is the endeavor of IC&RC IADCC to bring about uniformity in addiction treatment in the Indian subcontinent and also strategies for Prevention of the Disease.
The International Certification Reciprocity Consortium( IC&RC) has set minimum standards for certification met by The IADCC.
The IC&RC International Alcohol & Drug Counselor’s Certification Trust for India is the IC&RC credentialing Body for India and the SAARC Countries conferring the professional rights and privileges of certification

The International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/ Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Inc. (IC&RC) sets the International standards of practice in Addiction Counseling, Prevention and Clinical Supervision through testing and credentialing of Addiction professionals.
Incorporated in 1981, and currently headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, IC&RC is a not-for –profit voluntary member organization comprised of certifying agencies involved in credentialing or licensing Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors, Clinical Supervisors, Prevention Specialists and Criminal Justice Professionals
IC&RC includes 73 agencies representing more than 35000 certified professionals internationally. IC&RC and its members are committed to public protection through the establishment of quality, competency-based certification programs for professionals engaged in the prevention and treatment of addictions and related problems. The IADCC’S Certification Board is an IC&RC member board and has granted the rights and privileges of utilizing the international certification exams and products.
The Certification provided through The IC&RC IADCC Trust for India will provide public assurance that certified counselors have demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge & skills to perform competency in all treatment modalities.

Tribute
Ananda Shankar was one of the first artist who brought in the concept of fusion music. He has associated with Beatles, Rolling stones etc. He has supported the work of Addiction Recovery and through his music a special show was done in Calcutta in 1992 at the Birla Sabaghar for The Arunadey Midway Home.
